How to get there
Sai Kung is in the New Territories and a big favourite for beach goers, hikers and those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the rest of Hong Kong. Click HERE and the map will help you to get your bearings. Probably our favourite way of getting to and from Sai Kung and anywhere else is MTR to Hang Hau and then the 101M bus which terminates about 100 metres from Hong Kong Academy (33 Wai Man Road) where we hold our Sai Kung market. Walk up Wai Man Road, away from town and with the swimming pool on your right. The big building on the left past the five-a-side soccer pitch is where you're going.
There are many other busses, taxis, vans and so on going backwards and forwards. Some of our vendor’s even car pool. A quick Google search will sort out the best way for you
Because Sai Kung is so popular with the ‘weekend’ crowd parking can be a challenge sometimes but there are several paying car parks close to the market. There seems to be no rhyme or reason when or where the police will give parking tickets so you’re on your own there.
It’s a brisk five minute walk from the market to the nearest ATM so bring your money, chequebook, etc. with you.
The Sai Kung venue
The venue where we hold the Sai Kung market is tough to beat. It’s indoors, fully air conditioned, bright and airy with an outdoor area should you wish to get some weather. Some of the vendors are outside under cover but only about 25% even on the really busy market days.
We have done our best to make the Sai Kung market as kid friendly as possible. Regular highlights for our smaller visitors include Lego tables, colouring tables and face painting. We have vendors who specialize in kid’s clothes, toys, books too.
We often have a singer/guitarist playing at the market and we’re always looking for new artists - any suggestions?
